Kevin Rooney started The Beacon Consulting Group in May of 2007 after an extensive and successful career in biopharmaceutical marketing, sales. and commercial leadership. During those 19 years, he launched products from the anesthesia, cardiovascular and infectious disease therapeutic areas, and managed products through every development and commercialization phase. He has built strong commercial teams in a variety of therapeutic settings, company sizes, and product life-cycle stages. The Beacon Consulting Group specializes in helping executives build sound, market-based strategic plans and establish strategic alliances. The group’s success is predicated on Mr. Rooney’s proven track-record in leading marketing and sales teams associated with a wide range of specialty areas.
Mr. Rooney was VP of sales and marketing for MedImmune's oncology division from 2005 to 2007. He was responsible for strategic oversight of the sales and marketing organization for Ethyol, as well as the development of an extensive pipeline of targeted agents in oncology. From 2003 to 2005, he was the senior director of marketing for Synagis, MedImmune’s $1.2B monoclonal antibody for prevention of respiratory infections in preterm infants. From 1997 to 2003, Mr. Rooney held a number of increasingly responsible positions in both sales and marketing management during his tenure at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. His accomplishments include: leading the launch of a quinolone antibiotic, launching a novel antihypertensive, and building a large sales team in the infectious disease and CNS therapeutic areas.
Mr. Rooney received his master's degree in management from The J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and his bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia. Kevin serves on the Board of Directors of GenVec, Inc., and the Board of Trustees of the National Foundation of Infectious Disease.
