Mr. Liberti is currently the Project-Director for Market Research with Ben Franklin Technology Partners’ Transformation Business Group (BFTP), an internal business consulting group charged with strategic, marketing, and business development for its portfolio of early-stage high-technology firms. Ted has helped a number of BFTP’s biopharma and medical device firms with technical analysis, business development, market intelligence, strategic alliance development, go-to-market strategy, finance, and capital needs. These companies included Keystone Nano, SoftGenetics, Strategic Polymer Science, and Hanson Technologies.

From 1995 to the 2006, Ted completed a series of marketing and strategy consulting projects for Immunicon Corp. (NASDAQ: IMMC), a Philadelphia-based cancer diagnostics firm. Ted helped Immunicon’s executive team value their contrast-agent IP portfolio for an eventual sale of the firm’s colloid-stabilized magnetized ferrofluids to Nycomed A.S., and helped form and facilitate an R&D agreement with bioMerieux SA for in-vitro diagnostics. His most recent project for Immunicon examined alternate go-to-market strategies for the company’s portfolio of CellSearchTM epithelial cancer diagnostics.

From 1997 to 2003, Ted was first a research associate in University of Delaware’s MBA program and then in Penn State’s Smeal Ph.D. program in strategy investigating biotechnology and software firms’ business strategies. In addition to teaching strategy and entrepreneurship courses at Penn State’s Smeal School of Business, Ted has researched go-to-market studies that have looked at IVD firms such as: Digene (now part of Qiagen), Amersham, Exact Sciences, and bioMerieux SA.

In 1994, Ted advised the State of Delaware’s Department of Finance with their bank tax revenues to help boost and maintain the state’s growing banking revenues. Ted began his career with JP Morgan’s Paris office in international banking in 1989.

Ted’s business, strategy, and economic research skills were honed at the University of Delaware’s Bureau of Economic Research, Penn State’s Schreyer Business Library as the Benzak Business Strategy Research Associate, and at Penn State’s Smeal School of Business’ bioBusiness Center. He holds a BS in Economics and French from Penn State, an MA in Economics and an MBA from the University of Delaware, and an MS in Strategy from Penn State’s Smeal School of Business. Ted is fluent in spoken and written French and proficient in Italian.
