Dr Louise Klein is Co-Director of The Courage Institute International, a business and technology acceleration consultancy that equips product teams, business development teams and joint development teams to boost performance. As head of The Courage Institute's executive coaching practice, Louise advises "C" level executives about the challenges of instilling accountability and building a high-performance culture in life science firms that are scaling up, adding new functional groups or extending their partnerships.
The Courage Institute's team mobilization system has equipped hundreds of life sciences teams to overcome difficult technical hurdles, meet aggressive timelines, bridge cross-functional and cross-cultural differences, and partner effectively with demanding joint venture partners.
Dr Klein's work is grounded in empirical research about the key leadership and team culture factors that differentiate scientific and business development teams that perform optimally when they face challenges. This research is summarized in her partner's book, The Courage to Act.
Dr Klein is known for advising executive teams and product teams in a way that is highly pragmatic and for management systems that lead directly to accelerated product team and business development team successes. With her associates at The Courage Institute, Dr Klein is also known for team mobilization workshops that are highly interactive -- and that result in a higher level of transparency, cross-functional collaboration and breakthrough problem-solving.
Dr Klein earned her PsyD at Widener University near Philadelphia, and worked in rehabilitation psychology and personal empowerment — and as an executive coach with engineers, scientists and project managers on effective influence strategies with investors, boards of directors, scientific review boards sceptical and results-oriented business development teams. Dr Klein also completed studies for a business degree at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver BC and was a faculty member at Haifa University in Israel.
